Leisure Attendants are team members primarily trained to manage queues for rides and tyres, provide assistance to lifeguards during emergency procedures and assist in keeping the changing rooms and toilets clean and tidy. Individuals should be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.

Hours
Varying shift patterns are available including evenings and weekends.

Primary Objectives
To assist the lifeguard staff in maintaining a disciplined but relaxed safe environment for our guests. To educate pool users in adopting the correct code of behaviour whilst using our facilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Offers advice and assistance to customers when required assisting to educate pool users in water safety within the water park
  • Communicate with pool users and colleagues when performing these tasks
  • Monitors and prevents customers from wearing jewellery, spectacles and goggles
  • To maintain a clean and safe environment in the changing room and toilets
  • Identify problems and alert qualified staff
  • Educating pool users in water safety and the pool rules through effective communication

Operational Responsibilities

  • Maintaining discipline within the queues and on the start platforms of the rides through effective communication
  • To ensure that queues for the rides and tyres remain orderly and are initiated when required
  • Ensure that customers adopt the correct riding position at the start of the rides
  • To ensure that customers use the traffic light control system correctly
  • To ensure that customers are dispatched one at a time, and that they do not link or chain down any of the rides

Skills Required
Leisure Attendants will need to meet the following basic fitness criteria if working in the swimming pool environment and as a prerequisite for being for being enrolled onto the lifeguard course: –

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50m in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim continuously for 100m on both your front and back
  • Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without the use of ladders or steps

Training and Assessment

  • Applicants must attend 1 staff training session per month
  • Applicants must be prepared to complete the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
