Lifeguards are team members trained in accident prevention, rescue and first aid. Individuals should be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively. Please Note: Good spoken and written English is a must
Hours: Varying shift patterns are available will include weekend and Bank Holidays
Primary Objectives: To prevent any accidents through pro-active supervision and to maintain a disciplined, safe and welcoming environment for visitors to the waterpark.
A reasonable level of health and fitness is required including good vision and hearing. Lifeguards should be mentally alert, mature and self-disciplined. Individuals should be strong confident swimmers. Individuals should be able to work as a team and communicate effectively. Lifeguards should hold a current relevant qualification – RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities
The lifeguard’s role is essential in providing the right image for Splashdown Quaywest as this can significantly contribute to the success of the company. Lifeguards should: –
· Look and behave in a professional way.
· Be clean, neat and tidy in the correct uniform provided.
· Be punctual and reliable in arriving to work for their allocated shifts
· Be alert at all times when in a supervisory situation
· Adhere to the pool rules and procedures
· Be courteous to customers and staff members at all times
· They should not talk on station
· They should not abuse their position of authority
Lifeguards are team members trained in accident prevention, rescue and first aid. It is expected that you will: –
· Keep a close watch over the waterpark and its users to anticipate problems
· Identify emergencies quickly and takes appropriate action
· Supervise pool activity when required
· Carry out rescues and other emergency action when necessary
· Give immediate first aid to any casualty
· Communicate with pool users and colleagues when performing these tasks
· Implementing the pool rules and safety operating procedures
· Educating pool users in water safety and the pool rules through effective communication
Training and Assessment:
Team members will have to attend the designated training sessions each month and
prove their competency in both the theory and practical sides of the NPLQ. As a
lifeguard it is your responsibility to keep you qualification valid and up to date.
You will be expected to maintain a disciplined but relaxed enjoyable environment. To deal with any potential discipline problems it is essential to: –
· Smile and appear approachable
· Establish eye contact
· Be courteous but firm
· Give the reasons for any warnings or instructions
· Avoid getting angry or using inappropriate language
· Never try to intimidate pool users
· Always remain calm and in control
· Adhere to instructions from those of a senior position
· Fulfil all lifeguard duties set out by the Supervisor/Duty Manager
